A Brief History

Formed in 2005 after a year in a rehearsal studio, Rhapsody is a 5-piece band and has performed at some of the most prestigious events from Hampton Court Palace to Fribourg Festival Switzerland. Corporate clients include the BBC, RAF, Royal Navy, British Army, IOD London, Dabs Awards Ceremony, Official Queen Fan Club and Snowdome. Rhapsody is perfect for high end corporate events, awards evenings and conference gala dinners, private events, weddings, theatres, clubs and smaller venues. The Name

‘RHAPSODY… IS THIS THE REAL QUEEN’ was chosen after much deliberation, ‘RHAPSODY’ as it is immediately synonymous with Queen’s greatest and best known song Bohemian Rhapsody, ‘…IS THIS THE REAL QUEEN’ states categorically that we are paying homage to one of the greatest rock bands and in the world. Here’s the subtle bit, ‘…IS THIS THE REAL,’ are also the first four words in the lyrics to Bohemian Rhapsody

The Band

Alex Koronka (Freddie Mercury) plays piano and sings the lead vocal

Paul Smyth (Brian May) plays lead & acoustic guitar and sings backing vocals

Duncan Burgess (Roger Taylor) plays drums and percussion

David Clarke (John Deacon) plays bass & acoustic guitar and sings backing vocals

Jason Mercer (Spike Edney) plays piano and synth

The Performance

Rhapsody does not perform to backing tapes but play everything live and are guaranteed to maximise audience participation and enjoyment with Queen’s greatest hits. Rhapsody’s performance is as much a visual experience as it is a listening one. There are numerous costume changes available covering the glamour rock days of the 1970’s to the Magic years of the 1980’s. Costumes of course include an authentic Hoover Junior and a full length Robe and Crown.

Although the world will never again see Queen perform with the great Freddie Mercury, ‘Rhapsody’ will, with breath-taking accuracy, reproduce the same high energy show that became the trade-mark of the world’s greatest rock band.
